Hysteroscopic metroplasty is a type of surgery done inside the womb (uterus) of a woman. Doctors usually do this procedure to correct a problem called a uterine septum. A uterine septum is a wall or partition made of tissue that divides the inside of the uterus into two parts. Some women are born with this condition, and it may cause problems like difficulty in becoming pregnant, repeated miscarriages, or trouble in carrying a baby to full term.

The goal of hysteroscopic metroplasty is to remove this wall or septum so that the uterus becomes a normal single space. This helps improve fertility and reduces the chances of miscarriage. The good part about this surgery is that it is minimally invasive, which means doctors do not need to make cuts on the belly. Instead, they use a thin instrument called a hysteroscope that goes through the vagina and cervix into the uterus.
